What causes leaks in home plumbing
Leaks come from three main sources: failing joints and fittings, corrosion or wear in the pipe itself, and movement or pressure that cracks a line. In desert homes, hard water and ground movement add stress to buried and under-slab lines.
A pinhole leak in a copper line can run for months before it shows. A failed supply connector behind a washing machine can release water in minutes.
